Re: Chocolate Colored Water
8) I would try a size 10 black marabou jig (or dark nymph) under a small black popper. Try various depths for your dropper. Give it a short twitch or short strip then let it sit fot 10 to 15 seconds.
With a huge change from normal conditions it ii hard to predict. Some times the fish will be disoriented and sulk. Cover as much water as you can until you find feeding fish.
Re: Chocolate Colored Water
Yesterday it rained here from about 3am until 11am. I went to a small pond about 6pm and it was muddy as it could be, I used a #12 wolly bugger, blk tail, chartruse body and a grizzly chartruse hackle. Caught 2 bass about 12" and 4 8" gills, but it did take me about an hour.
Re: Chocolate Colored Water
dark colors (black brown dark olive) and move lots of water (buggers with extra hackle)
Re: Chocolate Colored Water
I use some wet flies but tied with dry fly hackle to push more water. Fish them unweighted and make repeated casts in the same area.

Re: Chocolate Colored Water
The only thing I can think to add to the list of very good ideas above would be to fish flies a size or two larger than you normally would to create a larger, more visible slhouette in the water.
Re: Chocolate Colored Water
For muddy water I usually use a variety of color combinations, that show up well. Mark K's idea, of a black and chart. bugger is an excellent color combo, as is, yellow and silver and gold and black.
