best day EVER
Fished to farm ponds today in the morning and WOW. I caught so many fish on my fly rod it was unreal. I had to have had about 25 largemouth (biggest 4 pounds) and 70 or so bluegill. I killed the panfish on poppers. Caught all my bass on either a black slider or a clouser minnow. I also caught a couple big gills on black buggers. The bluegill were not small either, they were as big if not bigger than my hand. At one time I thought I hooked a huge bass only to real in a massive bluegill. What a great day out just thought Id share it to you because you all know Im a beginner.

This is why this is such a fine sport. May you have many more just like this one. JGW

Wonderful news, Smallie. You've been working hard at it and deserved a good day of fishing. Your experience today is pretty similar to my farm pond ventures. There are just some days when all the fish seem to go on a frantic feeding spree at the same time. You might want to make some mental notes about weather conditions, moon phase (full), temperature, etc and try to hit the pond again when similar conditions occur. 8T

You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it's a real short camping season.

Now you can give advice to the new guys just like us old timers. Congrats, now write up a detailed story about the trip and submit it to LF maybe she will like your style and what you have to say and you will get something published. You will never know until you try....
Keep fishing and keep telling us.

Smallie,
Congratulations on your day! A day like that makes up for some of your frustration chasing the smallmouth on the Rocky lately. I love being in the river, but a change of pace to a nice pond with 'gills and largemouth can put a smile on my face too.
