Jeffro, they stock a lot of trout here in the fall. I had excellent luck this winter on a size 12 partridge and orange.

jeffro,
A Pheasant Tail can look like a piece of fish food that the trout have been eating. They will take a small Woolly Bugger and soft hackles fished just below the surface. You can try dries, the Adams is always a good choice along with a Griffith's Gnat. Just get to casting and have fun.

I'd start out with some wet flies under an indicator a ways, or stripping buggers. Hares ear, partridge and peacock, orange and teal, Professer, black gnat....

Jeffro,
The only trout in my immediate area are stoked ponds. I've only used small streamers since I've never seen any indication they were taking anything on the surface.

Small olive bugger-bead head # 10, stripped very slowly

I'm all for stripping buggers. But, if that fails, try hanging a chironomid a foot or so off the bottom. Most every stillwater has midges and they hatch most, if not all, year. Even stockers will figure it out.
