Using Sink Tip Lines
I have had the occasion to use a sink tip line and did not have the line or experience necessary to use the technique. I have purchased the Teeny BS-100 line and have no idea what to use for a leader or how to rig the same. Does anyone know of some online articles or sources that can help educate me?

I use sink tips to go after steelhead and salmon. I use 2 to 3 feet of level leader material, no taper. I adjust my test to the fish I am after but mostly 10 or 12 lb.

I assume that you are fishing moving water. Loop the line onto your leader. I also use level monofilament on my sink tips.

Quick question, ...
If you use a regular mono leader, ... won't the fly "float" up above your ST line?
I like to put on a poly coated sinking braided leader , ... then a very short (18") tippet.

I use sink tips all the time, and I put a 9 ft. tapered fluorocarbon leader (bit denser) on and it works fine. If necessary you can always add a little weight, but I seldom need to. Just nail knot it on the end of your line and treat the knot with super glue.

I'm with kerry on this one I use very short and mostly heavy leader on wet tips. always level. most of the steamers I fish are #4 and bigger. 10,12 or heavier, what ever is handy. short leader keeps the fly close to the same depth as the line.

If you want it to sink use flourocarbon. Nail knot about 6 inches of 30 lb. Maxima to the end of your tips, add a perfection loop to the end of this leaving the Maxima about 2 to 3 inches long and connect your tippet/leader material via loop to loop or what I use is an improved cinch knot after wrapping the leader twice around the loop. I have never lost a steelhead or salmon because this setup failed.

Thank you for the info. I now have some idea of how to work this line

I use 18 inches of 20 lb. Maxima surgeon's knotted to 18 inches 10 lb. Maxima. I took the formula straight out of "Modern Streamers For Trophy Trout".
