The Hatch? Which one? There are several thousands depending on your location, river, lake, pond, time of year etc.
Give the experts here some specifics.
Try our Not Quite Entomology section - it has the insects in chronical order as they appear through the year, along with the flies to match them. [url=http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/nqento/archive.html:9bcef]http://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/nqento/archive.html[/url:9bcef]

sorry, Being new to this i thought that the word " Hatch " was just a broad word for all of the diferent insects that come out of the water.
i guess if it helps, i fish in New Brunswick Canada on the miramichi river and st john river system.
New2....if a flyshop in your area has a website, they usually have a "hatch chart" for that area. It will list the insects and when they usually hatch. Once you have a specific list of bugs, you can learn the many different ways to fish them. Good luck!...Jason
feenom, we used to have a great fishing shop here in fredericton. a couple yrs ago it shut down and the only thing i have now is walmart and Canadian Tire. There is however a great fly shop about 1 hr 15 min away. i wonder if i can find a hatch chart online or maybe i could pick one up at a local rangers or natural resource office?
thanks for the idea. nate
castwell, thanks. i had just found there site. thats actually the shop i mentioned being over an hr from my place. i am sure they can help me out.
books and charts are almost endless in numbers. from vague and "all-encompassing", to very specific, even to particualr bodies of water.
IIWY (if i were you), id start with some basic local entomology: what kind of bugs near me during what time of year and day. this should get you started with the "catching" part of this great art.
I second JC's recommendation. The guys at WW Doak's are very knowledgeable and willing to share. Just don't ask John to show you how to tie his Green Machine. He didn't seem eager to share on that one when I asked...
Hmmmm. This is shameless of me, but you might try the link below.
