First fish on my 3wt
Here is a picture of the first fish I have caught in 11 years and also on my Military Tribute rod that Kevin built for me. It was the first fish I caught during the Mossy Creek Invitational 6/2/2012 and measured 14-1/2". It was also the smallest. The largest fish was 22" and was placed directly back into the water. For some reason the larger fish did not take well to the fight and if they weren't put right back, did not survive.

Nice fish!
Can't tell for sure from the picture, but be sure to wet your hands in the water before you actually touch the fish and then get it back into the water ASAP! It will really help your C&R survival rate.

Yes my hands were wet, We wet the measuring board before we measure, took a quick pic and off it went. We had one 22" Rainbow not make the C&R all day out of over 100 fish caught. For some reason it took longer for the larger fish to recover than the smaller ones but, I would say that those were good odds. 100% would have been nicer though

Nice fish! How do you like the way that rod casts?
I sure am glad I was able to build that rod for you for this memory.

Hi NewTyer1,
Absolutely cool! Sounds like you had a great day, and having one of Kevins rods has got to be neat!
At any rate, thanks for the post, and again congratulations.
Regards,
Gandolf

Kevin, the rod is a beauty, dead on accuracy and very gentle presentation. Once in awhile I would switch off to a 9' 5wt and then switch back to the 3wt, WOW, the 3wt felt like a feather or a toy but once to it again, perfection all around. Your rod held up to 22" fish so I beleave you have built a great product. Thanks again,
Scott
