Can anyone direct me to the recipe for John Wilson's fly (scud) Trout Crack? It seems like a great tailwater and spring creek fly. I saw it on a fly fishing show.

If you can find Zach Matthews site, I think its the Itterant Angler he has a pod cast of how to tie it. It is a very simply fly to tie.
Thanks for your help. I did a google search but never came up with this particular tutorial. Is it tied in any other colors besides tan?
Question: In the tutorial above Jeremy winds the UTC rib around the shenk to the bend and then places the dubbing on top of it before using it as the shellback.
I found the Zach Matthews video and he dubs the fly first and then ties down the utc rib as a shellback. What is the original method.
Just curious.
I believe the original method is as follows:
Tie in the V-Rib at the front and secure it all the way to the back of the hook. Wind thread back to the front of the hook and dub back to the V-Rib. Pull the V-Rib forward and wind the thread forward, which ribs the fly and secures the V-Rib. That's how I understood the tutorial anyway.
Hope it helps, nen-bran
Go to www.flyfishingarkansas.com and ask John. Thats his site and he is more than willing to help.
I believe the fly is actually tied as thin as possible.
Try the ItinerantAngler.com website. He has a video on tying one.

I just tied up a half dozen of these. A very good looking fly. If you use the below listed video, it is very easy to tie. I did use a different dubbing as I did not have any antron. I also tied mine on a Diachii 1130 #14 Hook. I beleive this could be a very effective fly. I will be trying it out. John
