Who makes the coolest long sleeve shirt for hot humid weather ? Or your favorite.
There are a number of good fly fishing shirts out there that are made for warm weather. I always wear a long sleeved shirt, then I don't have to lather up my arms with sun protection cream. Many fishing shirts are rated at 30 UPF. If you go to Cabela's, they have a great selection of warm weather fishing shirts made by Columbia and Under Armour and Cabela's. Larry ---sagefisher---
WalMart has some nice looking long sleeve shirts designed to wick moisture away.
Bought a couple of these L.L. Bean shirts earlier this year. They are great for warmer weather. Moisture wicking, cool. with a UPF 50+ rating.http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/...pse04ed78f.jpg
I got a couple at Sam's earlier this year; might be the same ones Walmart sells. They come in long and short sleeve and are branded Natural Gear. They're vented and 100% nylon just like the Big Boy's models, and are less than half the price.
Columbia. Period. End of story.
under armour, pricey but the best I have worn.

The Ex Officio Air Strip shirts are nice, but a bit pricey unless you pick them up in end of season sales. The LL Bean Tropicwear Shirt is about half the price, and just as good in my mind, although I have yet to actually try them out in a tropical climate. Luck.
My favorite is the Cabela's Guidewear GXII.
Me I wear short sleeves mostly but I have a friend who is a one man lawn service and swear by UnderArmour.
I will 2nd Prairieschooner.....I stumbled on the NaturalGear shirts in SAMS Club a few years ago. I now have 6 of them, 4 short sleeve and 2 long. Excellent shirts!....and only $25 each.
Any of the above...but check Ross and Marshalls. I have some Columbia shirts gotten there for 15 bucks or less
Hi All,
The shirt I wear almost all of the time while fly fishing in the mountains in warm weather in the summer is an Orvis "Insect Shield" shirt (I think that is the name of it), that has built in mosquito repellent.
The shirts are pricy, and I only have one, but the one I have is light weight and comfortable. It may be washed many times without losing its mosquito repellent quality. I don't have to use mosquito repellent when wearing it, and to my recollection, I have never been bitten while wearing it.
At any rate I think it is absolutely the most wonderful shirt I have ever had for fly fishing in warm weather where mosquitos can be a problem.
Regards,
Gandolf
i like these: http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=0X77. every once in a while i get a $25 off coupon to use on any purchase over $50 which makes these a little more reasonable. just fished all day in one and the temps hit close to 90. felt very comfortable and it dries quickly after unintended dips in the river :).
Anyone try the Aqua Design camo fishing shirts? http://www.aquadesign.com/
I buy filson,as advertised The Best There Is and they cost it too.
I too buy filson but only in my dreams..........
Rail Riders Madison River. Most comfortable hot weather shirt I've found, and bug proof too. I had tried some other brands, including some of the big names. Then I bought a Rail Riders. Now I have several Rail Riders shirts, which I rotate. The other brand shirts gather dust in the closet; one of these days I'll drop them off at Goodwill.
To me there is a difference between shirts for the outdoors and reel fishing shirts. many shirts today have loud colors, I like subdued tans and greens. I also like pockets large enough for a fly box, many have pockets that are on the small side. I don't use a vest, just a lanyard and two pocket sized boxes. So to me is a shirt that will block the rays. Have large pockets and have some wind blocking abilities.
Yes! I've had this exact shirt http://www.aquadesign.com/fishing-sh...tion-camo.html for at least ten year now. It's still going strong. It's currently on clearance, too. They've updated the pattern, materials and design since then. I wear it just about every time I go out fishing...which is a lot. It's now an old friend kind of shirt. I expected that the sun and deet would have destroyed it by now, but it hasn't. I would certainly by another one when the time comes.
Here it is...last weeks Hex hatch... It actually looks a little greener than in this photo. I had to spry it with repellent because the mosquitos and no see ums were unbelievably bad this year. That's why the buff. I inhaled so many bugs that week, my chest started to complain. I pulled the Buff up to my eyes when I wasn't trying to ham up for a photo.
