Wisconsin spring flies
I'm going to spend four days at the WFSC campground on the West Fork of the Kickapoo Monday through Thursday. I'd appreciate your indicating which would be more successful at this time; dries or nymphs and which one of each might be best. I've never fished a Wisconsin spring creek and am really looking forward to it. Thanks, Brad

Good luck! Also, the poison ivy and cow parsnip are up and ready to grab you, so keep an eye out streamside.
You can't go wrong hanging a nymph under an elk hair caddis.

Get or tie the pink squirrel!! Don't go without it!!

Acorbin, I went to the website. Does the Pink Squirrel represent a midge as it appears the others suggest in the picture. Thanks for the tip, Brad

I believe you would consider it a midge, though size wise it doesn?t get as small as some midges do. Honestly, I am not really sure as I do not tye flies. When I fished Wisconsin last year, I fished with a group of fellows, one of which use to work with the Wisconsin DNR. He gave me several pink squirrels. I fished other flies, but NONE were as effective as the pink squirrel. The Kickapoo can be much stained and in my opinion the Pink Squirrel works better in gin clear waters like the Timber Coulee, Coon Valley, Coulee Creek, and etc. However, it will work on the Kickapoo as well.
Here is a more detailed site about the Pink Squirrel.
