Guide Spacing Calculator
There was a guide spacing calculator on the web at [url=http://www.caines.com:844f7]www.caines.com[/url:844f7] that I used for the initial layout for guides. You put in the length of the rod, the distance from tip top to the first guide and the distance from the butt to the first striping guide. My computer does not access the site anymore. Anyone have the location of a similar site or the equation for the calculations. Hated to derive equations in school and still do many years later.

Lots of sites(including this one) have guide locating tables for rods of varying lengths. The manufacturer or seller of the blank can also supply good info usually.
If you use a table or calculator, remember that it may not give you the *optimal* guide spacing for your blank. What someone recommended to me was to use a table and layout the guides, attaching them temporarily with tape/elastic/string. Then string the rod and check to see how well the line follows the curve of the rod when loaded(the rod...not the builder). Adjust as needed.
Good luck!
