Anybody here know which model Medalist would hold a DT6wt and 100yds of backing? I know I probably won't ever need a hundred yards of backing but would like to keep the fly line coiled larger. Thanks! James

1498 for sure will hold that.
If you were using a WF 6 f the 1494 would, but I doubt if you can get a 6 dt and 100 yds of 20# on that reel.
Thanks Dave.
I once had a DT6 (Masterline Chalkstream - so long ago) spooled on a 1495. I'm certain there was over 50-yds of 20-lb micron on it, but definitely shy of 100-yds. The Medalist spool arbor was relatively large, so the unused taper wasn't coiled particularly tightly. The 1495 is chunky enough. The 1498 would feel very out of place to me on any rod lighter than #8.
There are two models that would hold that much. It would be the 1495 and 1495 1/2. The 1494 1/2 would get you pretty close.
Thanks for the help. I was thinking about the 1495.
I have my all my 6wt lines on 1494s. WF6 , DT6 and full sink
My 7wt lines are on a 1494 1/2. and my 8wt lines are on a pair of 1495 1/2s
The 1598 in this picture holds a WF11

nice collection dudley. have you considered "juicing" your Pfluegers up with one-pfoot products?

I too would recommend the 1494 1/2, which I use for my WF5S, DT6F and WF7F. I also have a 1495 and think it would be too heavy for most 6wt rods in terms of physical balance. IMO the 1494 and 1494 1/2 just look nicer (more in proportion to the rod) as well.
