Dear phatkid,
Look at Scientific Angler's reels.
They have great drags, big capacity, and cost less that $ 200.00.
I have a System 2L 8/9 and it holds a 10 weight line and 300 yards of Cabela's Prestige 30 pound backing.

We like our Teton Tioga....but our first consideration was it being a "closed" or "full" frame reel. Oh yeah, under $200.00 http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif
....lee s.
I just got a Ross big game #4 in like new condition with box, cast and backing for $250.00.....watch the for sale section and be quick about it
Ditto on the Scientific Anglers reels. I use the System 2 Model 89 and Model 1011.
You won't beat an Old Florida #4 (200 yds 20# backing) or #5 (275 yds 30# backing) at $200 & $215. They have a drawbar cork drag, hard anodized barstock aluminum on par with Abel/FinNor which is a step above the others mentioned. Frankly, they don't charge enough which is good for those that know reels but has others thinking it's too good to be true.

Bob

Lamson velocity 4. Best for the money out there. I have also found that System 2 reels have a very faithful following, as does Ford. Might be better engineering out there though. (Lamson is still a US company though, and all of their reels are made here in the States)
