Anyone familiar with a product called "Novasheen"? It is a cleaner/protectant.
I'm thinking it may be a great fly line treatment...works wonders on my granite...slicker than snXX and lasts.

Is that stuff made by British Nova Works?
Over the years I've been told by enough fly fishers, fly shop owners and fly line company reps(including Cortland) that the best fly line cleaner is simply washing the line in warm water with a little mild dish detergent, i.e. Dawn is a good example. Rinse, wipe with a soft towel, and let air dry. Most of the 'cleaners' break down the covering of the lines. That's what some have said but I'll leave the accuracy of that information
to the chemists out there.
Given the cost of fly lines I can't see trying to save a few bucks on cleaners not specifically made for fly lines. And like Allan already said, the manufacturers and now recommending soap and water.
