Byron, I use a black wing sparkle dun at 3$ bridge for the Baetis hatch there in October. It shows up better on the water in the crummy weather they hatch in.
Dave,
Interesting. Am I correct in assuming you go there at that time to primarily fish the Madison in the Barns' Pools area?
Nice tie Byron. I'd fish her!!
Looks like one wicked hook. Mind if I ask the make/model etc.?
Jeremy.
Thanks, Jeremy....
I won't spell this correctly, but.......Gamatkatsu. Model S 10 in a size 14.
Thanks Byron. Really good hooks, those "Gamma's". (see what I did there..:-))
I'm a muskie guy in my other life and I sub. all the treble hooks on my big pitching baits with Gamma's, even though I can sharpen the big 5/0 trebles quite well.
It's where "the rubber meets the road"!!
Jeremy.
Yea. I was recently in the Tacoma, Wa. area and went to a fly shop in Gig Harbor.
Most of the "Gammas" they sell are not trout hooks, but salt water hooks. Big boys!!
Byron, I fish the barns holes some when I am out there and some spots above 7 mile. There where a ton of people fishing it this year. I like catching the 14 to 19 in. fish on size 22 flies and 6x at $3 dollar and Raynolds more.
dave,
My son and I fish the Madison down near West Fork each summer in early-mid July. Some wonderful fish there as well. We also fished $3 Bridge, but like the more open area further downstream a little better. Caught some really nice fish up just above Quake Lake below the Campfire Lodge. Some big fish there!
That entire region is just awesome.
