Wonderful looking thread, but what is furling?
It's basicly rope making but in the case of leaders it is tapered. Furled leaders were first made of horse hair 300 years ago. It is a simple process but can also me quite confusing as you are about to find out.

I suggest that you give them a try. They aren't expensive. I think you will enjoy them, especially being new to the sport. I find them much easier to fish with. Kinda like using a hybrid club on the golf course, makes your shot a lot better than you thougt lol lol.
There are a lot of members of FAOL that make them. I'm sure if you would ask, you will get replies. I make some, but haven't had furling board out in some time, and the ones I have now, I'd like to keep.
Just inform them of weight line, and type of fishing you need them for.
YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE JUMP YOU MADE WHEN YOU STARTED FF lol lol lol
Below is a link to a review the late JC did on Kathy Scott's DVD on simple furled leaders. At the bottom of the review is Kathy's email address. I think she still sells the dvd and furling board plans. It's does not cost much and give you many hours of enjoyment tying furled leaders.
There are many here who have taken Kathy's dvd course. Many have taken furling to a whole new level.
