Spring Creek, PA
Matt and I made a trip up to State College the end of this past week. Not just to fish, but we did get stream time Thurs, Fri, and Sat. First time in that area. Aside from the "white fly hatch" (snow) blowing almost horizontal at times, temps in the mid to high 20's, we did catch fish. Matt even hooked into some browns on a dry fly. Don't remember the pattern he used. We fished Spring Creek in a couple of different areas and then Sat drove up to Fishing Creek. An awesome stream! Hopefully we can get back up there when the weather is a little more "user friendly". Most of what we caught was on nymphs - hares ear, cress bugs, and the likes. Matt was going to try a green weenie but thought the humor might be lost on "some". Surprised to the number of people out on Friday afternoon. Thought we were the only fish crazed pair in the area...no comments please. Didn't pictures, camera/operator malfunction. Fish ranged from dinks (8" to 15 - 18" range) nothing fabulous, but they are there. 788.5 miles in three days.
Pooped,
Mike K.

Re: Spring Creek, PA
Would like to. Any of these waters is a royal hike for us. We were up that way on a mission. What was supposed to have taken place then didn't. But such is life. We "made lemonade" and got some stream time in despite the weather conditions. Took the son back up the end of June for try-outs for upcoming Jr. World Fly Fishing competion. Weather certainly better. Fishing a bit better too! The area is bookmarked to return to that's for sure. Cheers, Mike K.
