Lee - I feel obliged to say this for ALL of the store owners & tackle reps who might frequent this board.

PLEASE, PLEASE,PLEASE continue to keep up the good works, and keep on using a 3 weight (!!!!!!!!!!!) for your Halibut fishing.
The odds are with us, as you suggested, that you'll get tired of sending in the 3 weight for repairs all the time & you won't be able to help yourself. You'll virtually be FORCED to go and buy another rod every so often.
