Of hoppers and crickets II......

I didn't want to borrow a thread from Gigmaster so I started my own. I had the same mental debate that Gig was having about the EHC. I was thinking that in addition to Caddis flies, the EHC was a pretty good imitation for some other bugs particularly the cream to light brown moths that become very active on trout streams at dusk. They are often referred to as "underwings" because they fold their wings when they settle on branches. Often they are so numerous they hit you in the face when it gets dark (or was that a bat). I was thinking the the EHC would be a pretty good imitation of these moths. I tied up several light tan ones on a #8 dry fly hook and caught five nice fish in five casts at near dark. That bushy wing seems to imitate a lot of different things. Try a big, light-colored EHC at dusk and you may be in for some real fun. 8T :)
