Because of the picture on the HOME page I wanted to post this........
This has been out since 2005, and hope you have not seen it.
Birth of a Hummingbird
This is truly amazing. Be sure to click on NEXT PAGE at the bottom of each
page; there are 5 pages in all. A lady found a hummingbird nest and got
pictures all the way from the egg to leaving the nest. Took 24 days from
birth to flight. Because you'll probably never in your lifetime see this
again, enjoy.

They are a unique bird for sure.
Really glad you folks enjoyed the link. Hummingbirds are definitely my favorite bird. We entice them to stay around our back deck all summer long with feeders and hanging baskets designed to attract these birds, and it's amazing how they interact with humans at times.
Lots of summer mornings I will eat breakfast on the deck; its open aired but has a woodsy looking cedar shingle type roof, and the Hummers just fly in and out of there like jets with their after burners on full bore. When by chance I "forget" to replenish the feeders, which has happened a few times, I hear about it "right now." And by that I mean I will be sitting there reading the paper and putting down the "over easys and coffee" when I will hear the wings humming and look up to see a Hummingbird about 10 inches from my face just floating there staring at me, eye to eye, not afraid, and not moving away. This has happened enough times, and it seems to always be when the feeders are empty, that I am convinced that they are telling me; "the feeder's empty Bucko!"
But anyway, a neat bird for sure and we always look forward to seeing them arrive in the spring.
