2013/2014 Beginner's Only Fly Swaps

This is the advance notice for my Beginner's Only Fly Swaps (November "Soft Hackle"), January "Nymph"), February ("Dry Fly"), March ("Streamer"), April ("Terrestrial")...

These five swap are for those who are new to fly tying, and those who have not participated in Fly Swaps on FAOL...

Each months swap starts on the first day of the month, and submitted fly patterns need to be on my desktop before the last of the month...

Ten (10) positions are available for these 5 monthly swaps...

I supply each member of the group with the a "FAOL Fly Pattern CD", Whitman Sampler Box with their name and mailing address for the twelve flies required for each month swap...

Cardstock Sheet of the Member's "Numbered Toe Tags" on the curve of the hook of each fly...

12 preaddressed 6" x9" mailing envelopes (six are for mailing in to the swap, other six are for the return boxes of sorted fly pattern from the ten members of the Beginner's Only Fly Swap...

As Swapmeister, I will at the end of each of the five swaps be attaching the Photo of the Fly Pattern, who dressed material listing of the material use to create the fly pattern and photo to each member of the swap... I attach each months fly swap sheet to each member of the swap...each member has a complete 8-1/2 x 11" format of their fly pattern submitted..

I have been hosting these swaps for a long time on FAOL, and many former members of Beginner's Only are now Swapmeisters of FAOL...

I know that is still early, but November is just around the corner, and I would like those who are interested in these five monthly fly swap to contact me, first swap "Soft Hackle" starts on November 1st ...

I can send you the monthly "Beginner's Only Fly Swaps" from the last two years of this swap...

That way I can get involved with all the other stuff, that needs to be done,for these fly swaps...

Friday October 11th:

There are only 19 days remaining before the start of the 2013-2014 Beginner's Only Fly Swaps

If there are not enough members of FAOL for me to host these five fly swaps, the 2013-2014 will delayed until January 2014 and the January Swap will be soft hackle, with the terrestrial swap being deleted...

I have yet to hear of any FAOL member, wanting to be part of 2013-2014 Beginner's Only Fly Swap...

October 31st:

This is the last day of joining the 2013-2014 Beginners Only (five) fly swaps...

There has been no member of FAOL emailing me at parnelli@comcast.net..

So I am temporaryly shutting these fly swaps down and reopen the 2014 Beginner's Only(four) Fly Swap, on December 1st, 2013 starting on January 1st 2014...

I will accept members during November & December....

The sooner the better for filling these 4 swaps...

If there are no members interested, there will be no 2014 Beginner's Only Fly Swaps...

I also supply a FAOL Fly Pattern CD and a Big Tapered Furled Leader CD along with hackle gauges on Cardstock, and Cardstock "Toe Tags" for the flies sent in...

Having participated in the 2012/2013 beginners swap, I can tell you that you guys are in for a real treat. Get out and beat the bushes and fill the members.

Parnelli is a great Swapmeister and you will get lots and lots of great information from him, experience and flies, flies flies!

Allen I think we start with soft hackle.

Soft Hackles were supposed to be in November, but the November swap never happened, as no one had signed up.

12 Soft hackle flies inbound. My guess is they will land at your door Wednesday, possibly Tuesday.

I tied up some tonight. A few more to go. I hope to get them in the mail Monday or Tuesday.

How many flies are we sending out this time?

Currently the members of the 2013/2014 are in the March Dry Fly Swap, with the remaining two swaps "April Streamer Swap" & "May Terrestrial Swap" yet to come.

I will offer the "2014/2015 Beginners Swap" on October 1st, 2014, not accepting any new members after October 31st. The first fly swap will start on November 1st (Soft Hackle Swap).
