Should I glue the cone head on the hook before I tie in the material for a Wooly Bugger? Or will the tied in material hold the cone head in place?

Lots of people wrap a few and several wraps of lead wire behind the cone or bead and push it up in the cavity to hold it in place. You can let is remain loose until you get the chenille against it.
No need for glue. Your material will hold it. If you're using additional weight, wrap lead or other and then cram tightly against the cone. Cover with thread wraps.
Cone Heads, about the size of a .22 Full metal jacket traveling almost as fast!! Hope you take along a back up rod!!:-(
Thanks for the insight folks. I will put a couple of wraps of lead on the shank and push it into the cavity.
Adios, Philip
p.s. I know what you are cautioning me about Jack. I was asked to tie these by my son. I will use some these wolly buggers myself, but will be careful and bring a spare rod too!
To protect your rod just make sure it isn't vertical when you cast. (Lean it away from you, not toward!!!)

Sunglasses!!
Always.
If you have a group of youngsters that are learning to cast, issue each with eye protection, and get a pair of the largest flowery sun glasses you can find. The sort Dame Edna Everidge wears. Anyone forgets their eye protection guess what they wear?
No compromise eye protection or this... And this guy is lucky!

I know I have posted it before, but I don't apologise.
ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION.
A friend came very close several years ago with a fly in the cuticle at the side of his eye.

I don't know the details of how, but we had a 7 years kid from our church get a hook in his eye a few years ago. It was removed with no long term harm but it made everyone hold their breath for a little while. A pair of glass would have prevented it. I recently did not take the time to find my safety glasses in my home workshop and had to wash a piece of aluminum sawdust out of my eye. I know better for sure.
