Hello,
SteveP posted a question about slatwater flies. I think he is on the east coast. Didn't want to hi-jack his post....so....Will the same flies work on the west coast north of San Francisco?
I have never fished saltwater, have no flies.....but have purchased 7-10 rods and 2 spey rods. What flies might work on the Pacific Northwest Coastline......?

Thank you for the info.
BTW not a play on spelling on the word Pacific in the title. A typo...but a bad one. I went to advanced editing and changed it...but when it came back up it is still mis-pelled. Not intentional....typo....the "u" key is right next to the "i" key and I was one key off.

Not to high jack your post or anything but you're more than free to high jack mine anytime you want, and as for what coast I live on.... I live on the central cost in northwest Missouri!!!!
By the way that Kiene board is pretty sweet and the shop guys are really great. I have talked to them a couple times now and placed a small order with them yesterday for some assorted sundries.

Also Ken Hanley's book "Fly Fishing the Pacific Inshore" is very helpful.
I use lots of clousers, deceivers, whistlers, and puglisi style flies.
For surf zone fishing I also use a lot of patterns like those you will find on the links already provided. Bonefish flies also work well in the surf zone.
You just about won't go wrong with clousers in several different color combinations. If you're tying your own, then make sure you put some kind of flash in them. It makes all the difference in the world!

find a copy of "Flies For Saltwater" by Dick Stewart - be a great investment. Dan Blanton's site is about the best online.
Thank You all for the information. Won't get to the west coast until later in the year....or next year. Heading the OTHER way for the summer. Gong to Texas and Arkansas for fishing. Maybe get to hit Saltwater in the Gulf though.
