Got a Starter rod from TenarkaBum at SowBug 3.6 11'8".
Took it out by itself for the first real time today. Had cast it afew tiemes before.
Had a blast. Got 27 nice gills and 8 nice crappie.

Nice to hear you got a T-rod. Was it a Goldie Jr.? You're going to have a lot of fun, Iowa fish won't be safe now!

It's a blast huh? The more you use it the more you will probably like it. That is what I have found so far. I bought my first one last winter and have caught gills and bass. I am loving it. Enjoy.
Glad you have taken up Tenkara. Brings some more opportunities to our SOTM. I have a 12' and a13'6". I enjoy the longer rod for ponds. I have caught (and released) several nice green sunfish, red ears, gills, other sun fish and several bass. One was over 16" (on the longer rod). What kinds of line(s) are you trying and flies?
