looking to start tying classic streamers and wet flies

Hello,
I have been practicing my hand for a while tying some classic streamers and wet flies (a la Carrie Stevens, MOM, etc....)
Can someone suggest to me the essential materials I need, ie hackle, hooks etc...and the best place to buy it all?

Ronn Lucas Sr is the author of most of the series and instructions.

I heartily recommend all of the above advice AND buying a copy of Don Bastian's DVD, "Tying Classic Wet Flies" reviewed on FAOL [url=http://www.flyanglersonline.com/review/062705.html:6f412]here[/url:6f412].

I bought the video last year when I started tying the same types of patterns and the video helped A LOT!

The advice above and the advice you were given on www.flytyingforum.com should be enough to get you started.

Search some of the sponsors on this site for the materials you'll be needing.

One of the bibles for tying these flies is "Forgotten Flies" by Schmookler and Sills. It is out of print and can be very costly if you can find one.

Probably the bible for wet flies would be 'Trout" by Ray Bergman

"Wet Flies" by Ken Sawada is a good one also.

It is a very clear and concise tutorial and has helped me tremendously. And as someone here told me get a few cheap pairs of matched wing feathers and just practice tying these wings

LF is right on... Ronn's tutorials are a great place to get started on the classics. Follow them thru one at a time and you'll have the basics down. If you can find someone in your area tying the classics sit with them and ask questions.
