Back on the bench!
After more than 10 months without even looking at my tying desk the bug bit me again. A good friend gave me the book "Tying Catskill-Style Dry Flies" (great book), not sure if he did it on purpose or not, but reading the book and looking at the photos of the flies just made me want to sit at the bench again. I tied up 1/2 dozen size 14 Royal Wulffs and I think I'm going to try my hand at the Queen of the Waters dry fly next.

I had a similar thing happen to me lately. With the summer heat here in Houston I didn't feel much like fishing but now that the weather has cooled I started hitting up my local spots for bluegills and bass. Once I started that I began browsing all the fly patterns online and the tying bug hit me again. I tied some buggers and foam crickets/topwaters yesterday. I'll probably do the same this afternoon when I get home from work. My tying goes in spurts I guess!

Queen of Waters dry fly
Took me some time but here it is, a Queen of Waters:

I love the way some of the lesser known Catskill style dry flies look, I think I'll have to tie a few more from the book. The Beaverkill and the Pink Lady also look nice.

Wow!!! Absolutely beautiful.

Alberto,
Being familiar with some of your previous work, this stunning fly is of no surprise. Excellent work. I will look forward to the next two,

Those Catskill dries are fun to tie, aren't they? Nice looking fly!

Alberto,
Nicely pleasing to my eye! Glad to see you are back at your bench and inspired by such a nostalgic fly. Rumor has it T. Gordon's first fly caught trout came to the Q of W (wet). Stay inspired for our benefit and tradition.
BTW: like the "Spook" in your album. How 'bout tying us up a "Bumblepuppy".

Nice to see you back!
Alberto, great to see you tying again. Don't know if I would call the Queen of the Waters or
Pink Lady or Beaverkill lesser-known Catskill flies, but then again, I'm so old I actually fished all three when I was young. Fly looks great.
