Hi gscheel,
Welcome to this site. Pull up a chair and stay a while.
I can't make a good recommendation as I live in Massachusetts and don't know your waters. What I can suggest is that you consider going to a reputable local shop that sells a range of fly fishing equipment and buy it there. You will not only get a good recommendation on equipment but you can build a relationship that will help you with fly selection casting lessons where and when etc. Having that local connection is worth anything extra you might pay buying local rather than the internet. Further after shipping costs you usually don't save much if anything.

I believe most use at least an 8wt. and a reel with at least 150 yds. of backing for sea trout (sometimes a 7wt. is used). Factors of wind and heavier salt fish of other kinds that might be hooked and run into the backing are probably why heavier fly tackle is needed.

A warm welcome to you.
As said, ... backing is a good idea 'cause ya might hook something else.
7-8wt is what I use for sea trout on the slaat. Not because of the BIG trout, ... but because of wind and bigger flies.
You can also think of getting a WF or shooting taper.
If you are into it, and depending on the fishing, a shooting head can be handy.
Last choice,(for me) ... but maybe an idea to look into ... a nice spey rod.
Where exactly do you fish to be chasing after sea trout ??
