glas rod
I was given a glass rod. Its an older one and cant find any name. Anyway it needs a refinish, which I can handle, just not used too glass yet. Taking old wraps off is no problem, but is there a safe way to make it shine/finish again? Comon Leo!! Any and all help will be appreciated.

Hey Clyde,
what kind of old glass rod is it as far as the finish goes? Some of them had an original bright finish and others had a seemingly rough appearance. I have done several of these and with varied results depending on the type of rod it was. Pictures would help.
I did a Heddon Pal restoration for a friend once and it turned out quite nicely using a dip process. Some glass blanks are designed with a dull finish to begin with while others are bright and glossy. Success has been achieved by many bu using a spray process as well, just have to use a good quality of paint that will dry fairly quickly. That Heddon Pal originally had an "orange-peel_ type finish and he wanted it glossy for some reason.

If the finish is real chewed up you can lightly sand it with some 3M green or grey pads then refinins it with Perma gloss.
I redid several herters and grangers and it works great. Just make sure you have good ventilation when using Perma Gloss or you'll start to twitch.
