Kids, and connecting
Hi,
Since working with middle school kids and helping them see the connections between themselves and the natural world is important to me, as to many of you, I thought you might enjoy this:

Midwest Fly Fishing magazine is one of the supporters of this site, and this piece comes from the Great Waters Expo blog that goes along with the magazine's upcoming show (the program looks great, btw).

Kathy,
Not the change the subject but I wanted to tell you (and the FAOL gang) how much I thought of your presentaion at Saturday's Connecticut Fly Fishermans banquet.
It was very well done and entertaining. I especially enjoyed the first segment about the history of fly fishing and rod building in Maine and David's piece about his bamboo rod building.
I also learned enough about furreled leaders that I will give it another try.
Thanks again.

great! Wonderful to see children getting that vital connection that will enhance not only their own lives but those of everyone around them as well.

Thank you so much- I'm so glad you liked it.
David and I really did have a wonderful time all day and all evening, although I'll admit I breathed a bit easier after the video/talk :-)
You've made my Monday!

Kat;
I think you and Dave did a wonderful job!! As you know I'm doing the Eagle Village Fish-In again. New batch of girls and a lot more help this year. Should be able to do one on one mentoring this time.
Connecting with kids is a very rewarding experiance!
See ya in June. And, This time we better do some fishing togather. I'm sure Karla will be there too.
