Fly of the Month Swap 2012

I hope no one is offended. Please consider me the secretary and not the leader. Participants for FOTM 2012 so far are:

For the uninitiated, the Fly Of The Month swap is where 12 of us tie 12 flies of one pattern, of our choice, and mail them to the swapmeister for that month. They separate them into groups of one each for each pattern and mail them back, so each month you get a package with 1 each of 12 different fly patterns. The themes will be determined by the swapmeister for that month, such as dries, nymphs, foam, etc... It's a blast! You will be amazed at the outstanding quality and creativity of the tyers here on FAOL.

There are only 6 slots open, so you may want to reserve your spot as early as possible. We will start the swap on Jan 1, and it will run until Dec 2012. Please make sure you are willing to commit to one set of flies per month, for the entire year.

The rules are simple: Try to get your flies in by the end of the month, with toe tags, and return shipping. If there is a problem, let the swapmiester know, and we can always work it out to everyone's satisfaction.

I'd like to give it a try.

We're coming down to the wire. We have 6 spots open.

If we don't fill up, does everyone else want to continue with whoever we have, or just let it go? My personal opinion is to go with who we got, but I'll go with whatever the majority wants to do.

I'll go with whoever. If we have six we can each do two months. I'll volunteer to cover Sjo. Who is first?

I'm still in and will cover one of SJO's slots so Bill doesn't have to do two extra!

We still gave 2 days to go. Let's see if anyone else joins up. Does anyone want to volunteer for January, would would rather I start things off?

I can tell you all now, that if I host it, the theme will be crappie flies. They have already started biting good here. They will probably spawn in late February.

I've been doing this swap for a long time now, I thought I'd wait and see if all the slots filled, seeing as how they didn't I'll go ahead and continue.

I'm nr 1 on the list, but I will gladly give my place to Gigmaster!

I've set up a tentative 'batting-order'. I have tried to set it up so that Iceman and billhouk won't have to host two months back-to-back, while covering for sjo. I left Nov. and Dec open in case anyone joins between now and then. I will amend the list as needed if anyone has any special needs or requests.

I am setting up the Jan Swap right now.
