how do you get at the tip. i tried to get a tangle off and rod slapped me in face as it broke.
was that cause reel put to much flex in rod? do u take it apart? and work like that
do u head to shore and work on land do u use a rod holder?

I usually use 9 footers...
I extend it out back wards or sideways "over" the water as far as I can.. usually supporting it somewhere...and lean in the opposite direction...usaually I can just reach it..
Bending it is asking it to break..
I believe someone posted here once about just putting it straight down in the water [reel down vertically]...water shouldn't hurt it :) ...haven't tried it but I would before I came into shore....
i did that in water vertical and fish hit rod when put hook on and rod is at bottom of lake
i think put rod vertical in rod holder might bee best.
across tube the rod reel wait over loads rood an snap broken rod.
take rod sections apart on tube.
for me il head to shore and lay on dock. or i wil get rod holder and get rod verticle

yep, you can do it best if you take the sections apart.
I do the vertical thing, but first I make sure my drag is a little tight (In case I do drop it, I can pull it up by the line).
I have taken the rod in half (mostly 4 piece rods so, I take them apart in the middle so two sections to work with). Only problem with that is trying to line the two pieces up after you get them both strung, specially on choppy waters or after a few Margarita's :lol:
In my kayak, I often take the sections apart to fix any tip issues, especially in the salt
But, I only take the sections apart, if the rod is strung!
(I've learned my lesson on that issue and the is no reason to go in to that 8) )
Sticking the reel in the water is not a good idea in the salt, so taking the rod apart is it the way I always do it.
Bad experiences tend to accelerate the learning process :roll:
il head to shallow watter or shore and work there with rods in half short and tehn put back to gether, or head for dock.
