Foam question

I have some 2mm sheets of craft foam and I want to make some popper bodies. My question is what type of glue would you use to glue the sheets together?

I use a CA glue like Zap A Gap which is a little thicker or a gel type super glue.

I have had good results using Plio-Bond, Barge Cement, or even regular house hold rubber cement. Some of these will leave a thin yellow glue line between layers, not noticeable when laminating different colors but visible between sheets of the same color.

I prefer a contact type adhesive for laminating large pieces or whole sheets. I then cut the finished product into useful sizes.

For glueing individual pieces one at a time the CA type super glues work well.

I want a really thick piece of foam I use a cheap flip-flop sandle, cut into strips of the desired width, I can add an accent color by laminating in some 2mm foam.

Don't forget to tie up some variation of Jack Gartside's Gurgler. I tie mine on standard size 12s and size 8 aberdeens with a single layer of 2mm foam over the back.

I'd use contact cement and I'd also use thicker sheets of foam to vary the patterns.

I just punched out a bunch of laminated bee and wasp bodies. I tried both contact cement and 3M 77. The 77 was MUCH easier to apply, didn't make the foam sheets curl, and didn't tend to soak into the foam as much. The contact cement was a bit of a pain in those respects--it needed 2 coats, and 77 only one.

However -- when flaming the foam bodies to shape them round, the 77 tended to burn off, while the contact cement did not. The 77 flies were much more difficult to heat before shaping....1/10 second too long, and the body was ruined.

Works the best for foma. Will not come apart after 24 hours of drying you just rip the foam apart.
