Aquamarine without PC. That will blend right into the blank.
As for spacing, Steve is using a guide calculator that a bunch of us use. Fly goddess is measuring the old Fenwick rod. Both are great but,
I would ask, what is the weight of the rod?? One thing I do is mount my first guide from the tip at 4 inches,or even slightly less. Far less tip breakage than before. Not saying the others aren't correct, I'm stating that if someone had the bad upportunity to high stick the rod, the closer that first guide is, the better off you are. Another thing is that I use the calculator but then put the rod under stress and let the rod tell me where to put the next guide. I just finished building a 5'6" 5wt rod and that thing is a pocket rocket!!! It has a very fast tip so I put the first guide at 4 1/8" from the tip.

I am betting it is one big guessing game when trying to make a rod out of 3 from a blank built for 4. Not how it was designed and changes the whole game to something new.
I am betting it will be very fast, that is where glass has it over graphite in my opinion (talking rods under 6'). I agree Biddadyrods. Tape them down in a general measurement, then stress test. Should do that to all rods like you say. General area. And I noticed Midwest gave you measurements for one more guide. I would go that way for sure.

Thanks all. I'll let you know how this project comes out.
