I was looking for a new "tackle Box" for my fly fishing stuff. A few days ago I had to wait for the school bus as the kiddies got off. They all had these backpacks which were unheard of in my day. I thought about it, went down to a store & got one for 10 bucks, loaded a set of clothes in it, my fly vest, other stuff and still have room for a lot more. I bet that might be a inexpensive answer to your question.

Tying Carrying case
I started out many years ago using an old pistol shooting box that my dad had and carried my tying items in that. Then a number of years ago I graduated to a BugBox, which was really nice but heavy.
I was in JoAnn Fabric & Crafts one day with my wife and happened to spot this nifty carrying case. I bought the medium one then once I realized how nice it was I went back and bought the large one. That is the one I use to carry my Nor-Vise in as well as all of the tools and materials I will need for any particular fly tying session.
Since I have my Nor-Vise and the bobbin holder mounted on heavy vise bases, I just cut two holes in the side of the large plastic box since the bases are wider than the one box, and the vises fit very well that way.

I use a 24 inch plasic toolbox for my traveling fly tying needs.

I carry a lot of stuff when I travel and tie. I bought a carry-on type bag with a nice set of wheels and a telescoping handle at Wally World for cheap. It holds everything, inlcuding my vise, neatly and safely. I had a smaller version that I got at Goodwill, but like I said, I carry a lot of stuff.
My wife also has the same size bag for her stuff, and she loves it.

i carry the 8 drawer machinist toolbox... holds all my travel tools & materials to tie just about any flies i wanna tie or might need... its similar to the wood tying box that orvis sells but came from harbor freight & only cost around 56$...

Don't know if this will work or not but I use a laptop bag. Think I picked it up for $10 bucks or so. I can carry more stuff in there then I can tie in a month, we maybe. Hope this helps.

I don't carry fly tying stuff around with me, ever. So I can't speak to that part of your question.
However, I am a real believer in the QUALITY of Fishpond products, based on a Fishpond chest pack that I have been using for over four years. That's something around 500 days on the water, and it is still in good shape. No telling how long it might last.
That may be too much quality for the item you have in mind and the use you will get out of it ?? But how about your kids and grandkids and .....

I bought a cheap Airline Luggage set at Walmart. The suitcase & other small carrier bag fits all my materials & tools perfectly; did not have to spend an arm and a leg !!!
