big spring creek, MT
I was wondering if anyone has ever fished Big Spring Creek in Lewistown, MT and could offer some advice to what the fishing is like there during the summer months. I have been extended an invitation to fish a privately owned section of the creek for a week in July. Any information on hatches, patterns, etc. would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Yup, I have. Lewistown is really out of the way and not between any major fishing towns, so the traffic from anglers is not heavy at all.
In the Rockies, you have to keep an eye out for those Siberian highs rushing down the range. They can drop the temp 40?F in a heartbeat. But Spring Creek character is similar to spring creeks across the US. There were a variety of midges and olives the time I ffished it in the summer, and a variety of miscellaneous caddis (16-18). I don't recall any PMD's, but that's certainly indigenous to MT. I recall Tricos too.
Terrestials ought to be good mid-day - it's small water with shrubs bankside once you get out of the middle of town.
