Adding "Definition" to CDC Comparaduns

I used to fish the Frying Pan in Basalt each summer. The Taylor Creek Fly Shop there had a very nice CDC Comparadun pattern. Their pattern had either malard flank or partridge fibers in front of the CDC which added to the definition of the CDC wing.

I have been tying some using EP fibers or other fibers in front of the CDC and I think it works well.

The "Improved Sparkle Dun" added winging material to the BACK of the deer hair. In the case of CDC, I think it needs some definition in front of the CDC.

Just an idea for you to play with. Why not try a body made from CdC as well?

I've a variation on Hans' CdC and Elk which has a compara dun wing. Proved to be hugely successful in a hatch. I'll get a pic of both (CdC body variant of yours and the CdC & Elk Upright, as I call it) for you. It'll be later as my camera gear is at a friends after yesterdays fishing trip.
