Anybody has any comments about that reel for saltwater?
Thanks
The Trion reel is just fine for most southern California surfzone and inshore fishing conditions. The people who I know who have one and have been using it for at least a couple of years have satisfied.
I'm thinking about getting either a Trion or an Allen reel, still undecided.
Hey Martin,
What size line are you going to put on that reel?
Beaver
It's for my 7/8wt setup, I'm currently using a Redington Crosswater and thought about upgrading.
I bought a Lamson Konic 2 at Sport Chalet in Oxnard for $129 for my 6 wt. They had a Konic 3.5 for a 7-9 wt line on clearance for $79 which was a great deal, if it is still there. I would call them to see if it is still there if you are interested. After looking around for a reel, the Konic seemed like a nice real for the salt. Just figure I'd let you know. Good luck.

The g-loomis venture 7 at Sport Chalet is also on sale for around $80. What do you think about that one? It looks and feels very solid but I found a review that said it's not intended for saltwater use.
The Venture is an excellent reel will hold up for light saltwater usage if you are methodical with your cleaning but the Trion or Konic are more solid and will be more tolerant of the salty environment. Some people have had great success with the Venture in the salt and other not so good.
Thanks Beaver, I headed to my nearest Sport Chalet and they also had the 3.5 on sale so I swapped reels. The problem tailingloop is that I'm not that methodical when it comes to cleaning my reel, thanks once more for your help.
Any time Martin. Would have bought one myself for that price, but I don't have a rod in 7-9 wt.
