Sno-Fly III
I'm feeling the cold weather already (yes even in Arizona). If you are like me, you refuse to hang up the fly rod during the Winter months, & cranking new patterns out
at the vise, you just itch to test them out.
Well ohhh midge maniacs & bifocally impaired
freaks who still tie 32's......this swap is especially for you. I'm asking for 12 tyers
to join this 3rd annual celebration of splitting the fly tying atom. Sign-up deadline is November 5th, with a finish (send
the midges in) December 10th.
Midge patterns in the larva, pupa, emerger, or adult stage; sizes 22 to 32 !!!!!
I am excited, since there are always great new & cutting edge patterns that show up in this swap. If last year is any indication, the list will fill up fast !!!!!
Once I get the full sign-up, I will close & send out final instructions & e-mail list.
Since ya have till December 10th to complete & send patterns, I figure that's plenty of time !!!!! Sooooooooo get yer bifocals (or appropriate magnification ready) & go for it !!!!!

We have only one spot left !!!
Sorry Mikey (Freudian Slip) !!!!!
stream-fisher.com !!!!!
Trying to talk Onecast into taking the last
spot. In celebration of this being the 3rd year, I'm tying up three new patterns. If any of you feel like overachievers, feel free to tie more then one. Don't worry, it doesn't have to be 32's (I'm not totally sadistic lmao) !!!!!

If spot is still open please inckude me. I enjoyed this swap last tome.
-
I think my pattern will be...
a size 24 parapost-midge (hope I said that right)
-
You have the last spot Dry Fly Guy.
That means the swap is now closed.
Deadline once again to send the midges is
December 10th. You will be tying 13 ; one of your own will be returned to you for your file !!!
I will get together an e-mail list.
Again, if you feel like an over achiever feel free to tie an extra pattern.
Patterns are to be tagged with your name,& name & size of pattern & recipe. I put my patterns in a pill bottle & then inside a bubble mailer. You will want a smaller bubble mailer inside (self addressed & stamped). Ya pretty much know the routine.
Send patterns to:

Bunch of show offs (size 32)! I am tying size 22's. I cant see anything smaller these days. Went to the eye Dr.today, and I have been fitted with bifocals. They will be ready on 11/21/05. If they work, I will tie some size 24's. If they dont, you folks are stuck with the 22's. I plan on tieing some two tone Baetis emergers

umm..I'm sending twelve. I found that other one I tied, but it's in a different color and I was gonna tell you to send it to me, but that's unnecessary since I already have it. don't know when I'll be scoring more #28s. prolly sometime the week I head back up to the juan.
sorry.
mgj

here we go again...
while toe tagging these leetle sumbeeches I lost one. so I'll be delayed a bit whilst I run to rohmer's shop and pick up some #28s (sportsman's warehouse if I'm lucky).
and I'll tie two so I meet the meister's criteria.
stoopit small flies. a trip to the juan is in order john.

Flies are on their way! Toe tags are rough when the fly is so small!

This is sounding great. For all of you who are having a problem getting e-mail, I will post on this site & stream-fisher.comas well.
If you did not receive the 2 article connections via e-mail, here they are.
The first is by John Schrock from Kansas School Naturalist: Snow Flies http://www.emporia.edu/ksn/v38n2-may1992/KSNVOL38-2htm[/url:f48ca]
the next is on the Phantom Midge or Glass Worm:
http://lakes.chebucto.org/ZOOBENTH/BENTHOS/xiii.html[/url:f48ca]
Let me know if you have trouble connecting to these articles.
I have completed 2 of the 3 patterns so far;
the #28 "Juan Shot" which is a Green Midge,
the #22 "Sain Juan's Ghost" which is a Phantom Midge, & have to get started on the #32 Mirage Midge, which is the teeney Diptera. Luckily the materials came in for that. Yes, Eric at Orvis (Tucson) again says I'm a sick man for tying 32's. It's a wierd disease to tie & fish them........but it's fun gosh darn it lmao !!!!!
Better check the post office.
& Mikey, I hope that Donkey don't stop off at the Picacho Tavern to tie one on. Must check to see if the package from the Adams Swap is here yet. Nice day out. I'm staring at these midges & thinking San Juan River while at work (not good). Will have to head fishing over Thansgiving break.
-
BTW DUB......I feel yer pain. I have to get my bifocals fixed...thank God for my magnification viser !!!! Was fishing on the East Fork Black this summer before dark.
Tying a 22 BWO onto a 7X. 15 minutes later.... I'm still trying to get that 22 on !!!! ouch !!!!!!!!! The trout are slapping the water all over the place taunting me. I look over at my wife LOri & say "jeez...I'm going blind as a bat " !!!!!
Finally got the little rascal on & caught plenty of trout, but not without that blind struggle !!!!!
