Beautiful Photos Byron! Thanks for sharing. Would love to catch a fish like that just once.
Not my fish though. Mine were smaller, but we're released.
Bryon, These pics had to be taken within a couple hundred yards from each other. BTW That fish was also released, as were all the fish I caught that week.
When were you there? I fished there on Tuesday.
Same ( Snake) river about 1000 yds South, downstream, of the Y'Stone South Gate last September. To be repeated shortly.

And Grand Teton peeking just over Signal Mountain (wayyy left). A view from the "Oxbow Bend" about a mile downstream from the Jackson Lake Dam. Kinda explaines why I LOVE to fish there. On a (rare) fishless day, I just look up and my creel magically fills.

As I was crossing the pedestrian bridge at Wilson over the Snake following a good afternoon/evening of fishing.

Hey Byron,
I've logged about 500 miles along that left bank through the years. Of course the river was, even last year, much wider . I did prefer the downstream of the bridge due to the convergence of many small rivulets. AND while you're there, you gotta do Nora's Fish Creek Inn for breakfast in Wilson. President Clinton ate there but we go there anyway. Also do "The Bird" just South of town for a great buger, brat, tenderloin sammich. It's where the locals tune up.
Mark
Marco,
Way ahead of you. Had breakfast there on Tuesday.....

A "fond" memory of the Snake ( below) at Jackso Lake Dam. Fished the Lamar and the Lewis in Y'Stone and on the way back, just had to try "a few more casts". $300 bucks later I drove it home. Wet wader foot slipped off brake and onto gas pedal add...............voila. In any case, that's my story and I'm stickin to it. Glad to be here !
Mark
PS: Not shown but GREAT views of the Teton Range from just b
$300???? Looks more expensive than that!
Have had car problems myself. In a rental. Had a flat on highway 87 about 40 miles from West Yellowstone at 10:30 PM last week. Could not find the car manual to change to the donut spare. Phone going dead. Paid 120 for someone to change tire. Then, had to buy a replacement tire.......
I hate rental cars!!!!!
Minimal damage except for/to my pride. Tow dude wanted to DRAG it out and I insisted he LIFT it out with his sliding bed . Dragging it out would have ripped out my driveshaft, muffler, gas tank etc. Took him 15 minutes but he came all the way from Jackson. Seve Molcsan "witnessed" the mishap but assuming there was no beer at the site, did not stop to help. :>) In any case, $ 300 was a "deal" even if for only 15 minutes. By the way, that spot on the "high side" of the dam parking lot is STILL not repaired ( 10 yrs ) . The huge bumper logs sre still a bit downhill where my Jeep teetered on the brink.
Mark
Marco,
The guy only spent 15 minutes with you, but as you said he came all the way from Jackson and then he returned to Jackson and brought his truck, which someone has to pay for. We forget the story behind a service call, total time spent, the cost of equipment, etc.
Marco,
I wasn't complaining about paying him. He did not ask for anything. I gave him 20 for stopping and 100 for changing my tire. He was a near-by local who was good enough to stop and help.
A just reward to a good Samaritan, great that he stopped, especially at that time of night.
get AAA, my ole truck died and they picked up the towing. AAA has some other good stuff too, their "trip tics" at least give you a guide to campgrounds/lodging/food to an area, has a nice app for your cell.....
Byron,
At risk of totally hijacking your original post, but then again, lately????................., I too agree that $300 was not bad. As is evidenced by my "situation" i was prepared to mortgage the farm. We will again be there from the 12th thru the 30th ?? and hopefully not repeat that scenario. Hopefully, also, we will again meet former VP Cheney at the Snake River Grill.
Mark
Marco,
No wories, I think the "crime" of hijacking a thread is sorta silly. Let the thread go wherever folks want it to go.
