Cool. Same here for the Southern Inyo County opener. Hopefully we will have some snow by then. We are at about 25% in the eastern sierras. Jim
I spent the weekend drifting the Yakima River in eastern WA. Near spring time weather, not at all like it should be (like very cold and snowing). Caught some nice Rainbows and Cutthroat trout and hooked into a very nice 10 pound wild Steelhead. Had him on for about 7 minutes until he got tired of me and broke off the 5X tippet. Great Fun! Hope the fishing in Wisconsin is as good for you when the season opens.

Thanks for the pictorial encouragement. I am now formulating several fibs to see which ones will be most convincing. Because of my age , I can't use the " my grandmother is sick" anymore.

Spent many years fishing the driftless area of WI around Dodgeville when I lived in IL. Once the initial rush to catch off as many of the stocked rainbows was over the fishing and the room to fish became fantastic. Fattest chub fed browns I've ever caught anywhere. Big, strong smallmouth bass in the streams I fished too. Remember catching 20" browns that would push 5#s. From caudal fin to tail was fatter than I've ever seen anywhere. When they say shaped like a football those fish were closer to it than any I've taken from a dozen other states.
