Bills! Ba humbug! LOL. I'm just kidding, I got some really good binoculars I must've been better than I thought.
well, this certainly has little to do with fly fishing .... but I got a brand new 18" chain saw! (and I needed it!)
And I got a Gopro wearable camera. Now when they find me they'll know what happened.
Mark
PS: Buy the stock! GPRO
Well, a 400 watt power inverter to use for air pumps on pontoon boat and air beds and electric chain saws, and who knows what else.
Absolutely nothing fishing related, and hardly anything else. Got a groovy David Allen Coe CD and a nifty flashlight, plus a picture frame and picture from my eldest grandson. I suppose it could be fishing related. The pic is one of him and me fishing together.Jim
Zach Hample's "Baseball" to go with the other half of my life...
Somewhat along that same line, I got some new fixed dome, network security cameras to enhance our home in PA's existing security system. When I get those cameras installed, I will be able to watch thieves robbing our home in PA while I'm fishing in MT.
I also got a Leica laser measure meter. It's supposed to measure distances up to 50 meters, or so, within plus or minus 1.5 mm accuracy. I wonder if that doggone thing can be used to measure fish?
Because some of us are perpetually 12 years old...

Santa, in the form of a friend's son, gave me an exceptionally fine carved and painted sea-run cutthroat. The sculpture was based on a photograph I took of a 21-inch cutthroat I caught on the Stillaguamish River a couple of years ago. He did this piece as a project for an art class he was taking, and it was his first effort at such a sculpture.
These were deer hair bassbugs I received in a Christmas Secret Santa Swap. Too cool to fish with tho the person wanted me to.

Ok that is great! Fish'em though I'm curious if the work. I got a pair of G3 simms waders that my dad found at the local goodwill shop! Now to go see if they leak.
My wife and I have pretty much given up exchanges the last several years. We let each other know what we got them. I got her a new mixer. Little did I realize that top of the line mixers can cost what a good used car did a few years ago. Myself, I found a couple of very good buys on blanks people were getting rid of for quick cash before Christmas. A 7'6" Paul Young taper Martha Marie hex bamboo blank with handle and ferrules already installed. I had the Perfectionist and didn't particularly like it but have heard good about the MM. Also a penta bamboo blank in a 7'2" 6wt. I've always liked quads but never had a penta. Have heard from people who love them, others who say they can't tell a difference. We'll see but getting caught up on fly tying for awhile and now time to start on rods.
I received a much needed Folstaf wading staff. Love the cork grip and nifty holster. Got to try it out this past Saturday and it is very handy indeed!
Didn't make out too bad. $100 gift certificate for my favorite fly shop from my sister. Added to the one she gave me for my birthday last month. $200 to spend over the next month or so. My niece and her husband keep Arcana chickens at their home in Austin and one ended up in the stew pot. They saved me the feathers and gave them to me as a gift. They make a nice variation of the PT nymph. I tied some up for her father-in-law last year for a New Zealand trip he took last year and he took two very nice brown trout on them. Now if they just work around here.
Santa brought me a 1300 FPS air rifle and it only cost me $159.00
Watch out all you squrille tails.
Hey Philly, you ought to post up a pic of that pheasant tail with those feathers.
Philly, would that be the Araucana chicken. Years ago an Aunt and Unc had a bunch of them and they laid distinctly blue eggs. I looked up a few pics and the neck has big hunks of feathers growing out of each side. Should be a lot of good stuff on there. A hen should have some nice soft hackle.
Fishing related I got a new Cabelas RLS reel with an extra spool for my bass rod. A nice fit I must say....the hints worked. Lol!
Got 2000 jig hooks for making jigs - $30 cabelas card - 6 colors of Veniards Fly Dye - clothes
I won a contest for the best fish story at my local fly shop. $200 gift card to the store. Santa wife got me Rivers of Sand, which is a great read on Michigan rivers and a DVD of "The River". I have yet to watch it but it gets great reviews. I just need to block out 3 hours.
I got the components to build a 4pc 4wt rod (I had to place the order for Santa just to be safe), a single person inflatable air mattress to fit my 2 person tent, and a folding turkey hunting chair. All these will be perfect for motorcycle camping/fishing trips this year. All but one of my rods are 2-piece and don't pack well for riding...a great excuse to build more.
Yep, so that's how you spell it. My grandmother raised them when I was a teenager and they laid blue, green, tan and brown eggs.
Chewydog, I'll try and take a couple of pictures when I tie them. Right now I'm experimenting with poppers and crease flies.
I received a Cabela's Tlr 4 in blue with matching Tlr 5 spare spool. They match a blue 9wt I picked up this Summer from River Traditions (FLYFISHDOG). Look out carp and musky, here I come!http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...225_195610.jpg
Got to hike the South Kaibab trail in Grand Canyon with the family. 25 degrees when we started and it never got much warmer, but there was no wind and the trail was ice free. First time the kids have been there; it was a very special day.
