Who's doing December, and what is the theme?
Rick Z offered to lead December.
I will do it.
Use the material for a fly that has not been used for over 2 years since you got it.
We all have stuff that has never beenused.
Will make me use some fo it.
Rick
I'm afraid to go in to the bottom of my material boxes... I have no idea what's there and it may be dangerous. I'm in but, I'll have to wait to see what qualifies for a pattern. OK, not so dangerous. I found some turkey flats used in a Trico pattern. Standard dry fly size 18 or smaller.
Address please. Tied some All-Fun Nymph using Pine Squirrel for the hackle.
This ought to be good. I have stuff that I don't even know what it is.
I'll have to open my secret dungeon!
Pattern TBD.
Sjo
I have never used yarn, so can I get away with a pattern using regular acrylic yarn? I'm thinking of making a new carp fly.
Going to have to be wool about the only thing I haven't tied with that I have available. Pattern to follow when I decide what it's going to be.
And the pattern is Wool head leech.
Sorry have to change the pattern see my later up post for the glass bead nymph.

I haven't got to test it, yet, but I plan to in the next few days.
Flies are in the mail. I did one thing different than the picture. I took a brown Prismacolor Marker and added a few vertical stripes on the wings. They look better, and things in nature are seldom solid colored.
I'm going to have to change my pattern from wool head leech to a glass bead nymph. Seems I'm a bit short on zonker strips but I found these cool glass beads in my bead box that are at least as old as my wool and haven't tied with them yet. Since they have been in the bead box for longer than I can remember they will qualify for this tie.
Sometime I just make stuff up. This is one of those times.

Flies in the mail. Material not used; white turkey flats, microfilberts.
I sent my flies in the wrong direction, but they will be posted to Rick Z. I tied French flies known in the Jura region as La Peute (The Whore). The body is Yellow dub on a yellow thread, ribbed with one or two Pheasant tail fibers (allowing for breakage). The long time not used material is the Hackle, a Mallard breast feather, the dirty yellowish ones. These flies are also fished in the Belgian Ardennes and the German Eifel region.
