I just bought a new blank to build. It is a 6'6" 2 wt 4 piece graphite in a tiger eye color. The manufacturer is Sevier. I checked out their website and like the prices and components they have. Has anyone else used this brand?

You will enjoy, that purchase. Nice blank - It will become a very nice rod.
... on a Sevier Tiger Eye blank designated 2/3 two years ago and really liked it.
It cast well with a DT3F line but really really came to life with a WF4F line.
You might find yourself fishing a 3 wt, which is not a bad thing.

I build a lot of Tiger Eye's. For the money, they are a great deal for lower weight rods. There are other options I like for heavier rods, but up to 5wt's they are hard to beat. I usually buy the blanks from Schnieders Rod Shop because I like their component selection better.
It's a great little blank you will be very happy with it. I've built literally hundreds of rods on the Tiger eye blanks and never found one I didn't like. I'm actually working on two builds on that exact blank right now (6'6" 2wt).
John are you sure your not maybe thinking of the 6' 2/3wt 2pc Tiger eye that liked the heavier line better? Because the 6' 2/3wt 2pc does for sure like a 4wt line best, but the newer model 6'6" 2wt 4pc I found to be a very true 2wt.

I built a 4pc 5wt Tiger Eye I bought from Schnieder's. A very nice blank for the money (or lack thereof) and the Tiger Eye's are just beautiful in the sunlight.
Look you guys, I can't afford another hobby! All this talk about Tiger Eye this and Tiger Eye that! Stop it - Stop it right now! You're killing me, I tell ya. Man O' man show some mercy already!!!! Having said all that, those sure are Nice though! Hmmmm - Nope, Nope - can't /won't/shouldn't go there!!!
Best regards, Dave S.
Hey, Dave! Those Tiger Eye blanks do make a really nice rod. A whole bunch of bang for the buck. They make an excellent blank to build your first rod on because if you mess things up, you are not out that much. On top of that, they are really rich looking and cast nicely. Even I can cast one of those.
And, they are absolutely gorgeous in the sunlight!! I think you need one!!
Come on Dave buy one, you know you want too! I dare ya! I DOUBLE DOG dare ya!!!!!
See?? Even I can do it!!

Hey, Betty! Your reel seat is upside down! <duckin' and runnin'>
Naaaw,
Betty's just got the pic posted backwards!!! I already have some rods that were stripped clean years ago, and in need of new guides/ re-wrapping etc., before I could even think of getting new blanks. But thanks for the NUDGE anyway!!!LOL!!! BTW, is there a quota on the use of exclamation marks on FAOL? I hope not, cuz I REALLY like them! HA! You better hope I don't figure out how to use those emotOcons!!!!!

I love my tiger eye rod. I built the 9ft 3/4wt for my first rod build and it casts great. At the same time I ordered that blank I ordered a 6ft 4piece 2/3wt. I havnt had a chance to build it yet, even though I have had it almost a year. I plan on starting it soon. I ordered directly from Sevier as his prices were much better than any third party (they are cheap anyways) and Dave's customer service cant be beat. As a matter of fact, I could use his number again. Someone on here had given it to me. Im thinking of building another one for my brother in law.

I decided to build the tiger eye for my friend Mike as a Christmas gift. I had the rod almost finished last Friday, Dec 17. Tried to fit the tip top and it was too small. The rod was stated to take a 4.0 top, that's what I ordered for it. I quickly ordered a 4.5 and the waiting game was on. The order got to Janns Netcraft too late on Friday to ship. It was shipped Monday and arrived Friday, Christmas Eve. I quickly glued it on, shined it up and put it in the custom sock I made for it and presented it to my buddy on Christmas day. He's happy.
Pictures? Please?
Posted those photos Wednesday.
Looks great!
jimsnarocks,
Nice Jim, but for some reason I keep wanting to glue an Alaskan or Washington state quarter onto the butt-end, even tho your from Calif! Don't mind me - just thinkin out loud! As a matter-a-fact I'm thinking I should do that with a couple of commercially made rods I have, to add a little spice and a whole lot of protection for their butt-ends. They're cork also, so what should I use for glue?? Thanks for sharing.
