how do you tie those darn things?
classic salmon flies. ive been trying to tie a few and they looked pretty nice but i was looking at the flies on some other sites and they looked AMAZING. especially amazing compared to mine. ive been looking on FAOL and it has some but not the step by step process. so does anyone know of any place online where you can learn to tie them? i tried my hand at a Popham but i had very few of the ingrediants so it didnt work out too well. so if anyone wants to do one of them for FOTW or just direct me to a place where you can learn to tie them, it would be much appreciated.
also i am not asking for a tutorial on the BB because they have been banned.

if you want to see a full dress salmon fly being tied please go to:

the site is mostly written in french. explore this site. lots of salmon and trout flies.

I didn't realize tutorials have been banned. Is there another place we can post them besides as flies of the week?

What seems to be the problem with sending tutorials in for the fly of the week? You want to post them on the BB but not send them in so they stay up? You only want them seen by a few people?

I wonder if all the folks know that these threads/strings are eventually deleted....not to mention that if you clean out photobucket or whatever web host you use the picture is no longer in the thread/string.

Be sure to check out Ronn Lucas website at http://www.ronnlucassr.com/. Ronn Lucas recently took over Ron Reinhold hooks. These are hand made hooks of the highest caliber. I think the problem is that people don't feel good enough about their tutorials and/or ties.
By only a few people seeing it on the BB they are confident enough to post it....BUT when that gets to all the people who see the FOTW they get self-conscious.

A very good Point , I had not thought of that. You put them in fly of the week , they stay onsite forever and you can find them in search. Plus the admin can make sure they aren't already in fly of the week thus eliminating duplication.

I was wondering why tutorials were banned and these are two very good reasons.
Also, I have never actually seen anything saying that tutorials were banned unless it is in the thingy you agree to at the time of registering. I have tried and cannot find that information anywhere on faol. If someone knows where it is please point me to it.
Ps. DDRRedneck500 if you can beg borrow or steal a copy of the premier edition of Hatches Magazine there are some awesome articles on Atlantics in it.

the reason tutorials got banned was because about a month ago someone( not mentioning any names on here) posted a tutorial and it ended up carying on an argument from a different website and turned into an online brawl. alot of people got angry about it, so Denny got arid of the WHOLE problem and banned tutorials on the BB so that that kind of thing wouldnt happen again.
so thats that story in a nutshell
