Imagine a JDAM falling into the San Diego zoo, a jewelry shop, and a computer science lab. Oh, and a used bookstore. All at once.
I posted a picture of mine a couple of months ago. I thought it was sort of messy. Everyone else told me it was too neat and organized. I have spent the last several months trying to learn the proper way to clutter a desk up. I am doing better.
that's not a mess.
Unfortunatly I don't have a desk or area designated to fly tying. I have a girlfreind and a 1 bedroom apartment, which mean I don't have my own space. It's either our space, or her space.
I tie at the coffee table and neatly dispose of all my clippings into a small garbage can at my side. This to keep the misses happy. As soon as we move into a larger place, I have first dibs at any extra space. Well I think I do anyway. And then I will have a properly cluttered mess of a tying area I can call my own.
Not sure why you deleeted...Ohio? guy...a very impressive setup and a pleasure to see!
Ah....your back!

Namekegon--- you've got a great set up. Hope you have some Lucinda Williams playing in that CD thing.
My living room looks like some kind of santamaria black magic voodoo ritual just took place... animal body parts, feathers all over the place... Hoping PETA doesn't show up anytime soon.

Hey JZ, how did you add your stealth stone fly to my Swap page? "Mayfly Life cycle swap" it wasn't there before? Did you link it to your post's?

My fly tying desk is neat but far from beautiful; it is an old beat up desk that was my sister's when she was a kid. I've added all sorts of stuff to it and I have shelves in front of me to hold bulk storage of feathers, fur and assorted other stuff. It ain't pretty but it works just fine for me.
My tying area is about 6' X 6' space tucked away in the corner of my garage where the smells and messes bother no one. A week ago I showed my 8 year old niece my space and various dead critter parts and she said that now she understood why my wife makes me tie flies in the garage.
That's funny gotta love those nieces & nephews
I know I had a tying desk 20 years ago but haven't
seen it in many years............must be under all these feathers, furs, beads, hooks, books and other stuff.
hcmiller, my setup looks a lot like yours, but i have a question for you. when i got my table top setup built i had a section for chenille put on it like the one you have at the front. mine, however, is only the dowel that holds the chenille, but not the spools. so far all i can think of to get the spools is to save my empty tippet spools, but at that rate i'm never going to get my chenille organized. do you know of some place to buy those spools? i know they come with the oasis chenille center, but i want the spools only. i'd ask the local fly shop to save some empty tippet spools, but they are an hour away and i don't go there more than four or five times a year because of that. anyone else have suggestions?
tar heel, yes hang on there called ez bobs i'll get the web page for ya...Bud

I have great pics but dont know how to put them on this posting so if someone would like to tell me or tell me someone to send them to then i will put them up here, I think you would be very impressed. I am a Lady Fly Tier. :D
Kf,
I believe you have to 'upload' your photo to an online web host like 'Photobucket' ( see link).
Then you can go there and 'download' your photo using 'copy &paste. I have done this at another site, but I don't have any fish photos or camera to do it here.

This is the corner of my "fishing room" where I do my tying when I'm at home in PA.
I took this picture a couple months ago, when I cleaned the entire room and picked up my fly tying stuff for the first time in a couple years.
Right now you have to wade your way to my desk.

Very nice Jim..... :D
Do you need the print(font size) that large?
kf, go to photobucket like quill said...it's free...sign in....then click on "browse"...that will browse your computer so your pictures should be in a folder in your computer...browse to that folder and high light the pictures you want to store in photobucket...note you can choose in photobucket to download "multiple" picsQuote:

You can also get the spools for chenelle storage from Feather-Craft. They only show them with a rack in their catalog, but you can order them seperately if you want. Just give them a call. I think I paid 50 cents each a few years ago.
