Hi,
A friend of mine made this for me out of the local hardwood Koa wood. I think he did a really nice job.

Very, very nice!
Byron, you have a really ice taste for understatement. :)
It is beautiful.

Looking good Byron....
Thanks guys. Actually it is for this vise and stand.

Byron, love my Jvice and yours will look and work great on that new table.... I still think it's the very best vise out there bar none!
I see you have been using your 3000 a lot...
How do you like it?
I know it works great for tying smaller flies. How about bigger hooks?
Very nice set up, Byron. Probably means you'll keep tying and posting neat flies for a while longer !!

I don't use it to tie much at all. I use it for photos mostly. It is a great vise though. I had one years ago and sold it. So I got this one several months ago, but I am spoiled on my jvice and my Matthias (which has same sized stem as jvice) which I sometimes put in the jvice tying table.
My Renzetti 3000 is for sale now.
How long have you had your jvice?? I got one of the earliest ones which had the knuckle head. Jay has since updated mine.
Not to bore you..............but, I got a better photo that shows off the grain in this curly Koa wood, I think.

Byron, I got mine about 4 years ago... I'm one of the featured fly tiers on his web site. Jay's a great guy to boot..

Nice. I see you are using the original jaws. Have you considered his "pro jaws"? It is a lot more tapered.
Is that his C clamp or some other?
Byron
Yes, I have thought about buying a second vice with the pro-jaws and will do that soon... I believe I was the first person to ask for the knob on the jaw cam lever... You can see when I first got mine in the photo it didn't have it... Tying as many flies as I do my finger would get sore from opening and closing the jaws so many times day after day... So, Jay fixed me up... And yes that is Jay's large C-clamp.
Does the knob come standard on the jaw cam lever now?
Is that C-clamp brass and if so is it standard?
Does Wasatch still handle them?
Can't seem to find a current price.
Knob comes standard.
You can see them and the prices at Jay's website. jvice.com
To see prices, click on the US order spreadsheet.
Thanks, Bryon and I forgot to ask...
I know it is rotary but haven't seen the words true rotary ....can't imagine it is not?
Yes, true rotary. There is a "set screw" where the jaws attach to the "J" housing. You can adjust them infinitely (almost) for any sized hook gape/gap.
It is the best vise I've ever tied on. Others, like the LAW are more beautiful and nearly as nice to tie on, but don't provide true rotary and the hook access this one allows.
