teeny-tiny nymph swap
*****MY CUP DOTH OVERFLOW, WE'RE CLOSED******
Would anyone be interested in tying up a batch of about a dozen teeny-tiny nymphs?
Lets say a max of 13 tyers including me (12 more) so we'd be tying up a dozen nymphs to be postmarked by January 10th, size 18 or smaller?
Thanks for the fast response on this one... mikeytwoshoes has signed up as well, he just couldn't post it on this board.
God bless and tight lines,
EF

Okay, I love the tiny stuff more than I care to admit. I have held off 'til now, but can't keep it up any more, so here I am, signing up. Don't know what I'll tie yet, but it'll be #22, and when I figure it out I'll let you know.

I'll play. Put me down for a #18 Killer Caddis (I think).
Have a great day.

Well,,,,, I just finished my set of Filoplume nymphs and IMHO they are a good looking fly they just don't fit in the spirit of being a Tiney - Tiny fly. After having a long talk with Spotless (he's my invisable dog) WE decided that I should try another fly. After another long talk (he's a long winded critter, guess it runs in the family) We decided on a "Cream Peeking Caddis" in a size 20. I'll include the filo's cuz they DO look like they will catch fish. I hope you all will enjoy them.
Scratch that. Didn't have any size 20. Got some 28's, tink I'll use those.

I was feeling real good about this swap untill WaterBum said He's tying 28's. Ok, I'm strugling with 18's. I tried consulting MY Dog. Border Collies are supposed to be smart. Smart enough to not give me any advise. That white tail hair does make some real fine wings though.

well, let's see...
the flies I was gonna tie for this swap, I accidentally started tying for another swap, so I have no idea what I'll be tying at this point in the game. could be a #28, then again it may be an 18...
so why am I posting?
congratulations EF on the birth of elijah, your new son.

LOL creese, relax this isn't a compition type swap (as far as I know). I got a set of 28, 30, 32 hooks from eBay. So far I have been able to tie only 2 adams in size 32. Haven't wanted to do that to myself again for a few weeks now. The "Peeking Caddis" I don't know if I can call it a fair fly. It only has a dubbing body, a fine copper wire rib, and a peacock hearl head. I have visor type magnifires and they make the small stuff fun. I like using 10/0 thread for the reason when I switch back to 8/0 it feels like parachute cord.
Way to go EF! Congrats. And way to go Mrs.EF (we know you were the one doing all the work)

I was about to post that I had my flies done and ready to go when I noticed that I am not on the final sign up list. Is this correct? Let me know EF. Scott
-
Badbug- I've emailed you several times and they keep bouncing back to me!
Thanks a ton for your fine work on those TEENY TINY nymphs... #24 if I recall correctly?? NICE!
Thanks as well for the extra flies and the materials; I had thought about needing some finer whitetail hair in the hospital, it'll come in handy while tying my submission for the mega spring swap.
Keep 'em coming y'all!!!!
-
Well, this has been a fun challenge. My #18 Copper johns are in the mail.
I don?t think I?ve ever tied this many tiny flies in a row. It?s actually kind of addicting. After I finished, I tied some Pt and Hares ears just to prove I could do it. My old eyes and hands are not so nimble any more. Anyway, here's my swap pattern. I?m sure looking forward to see everyone?s submittals.
Hook: #18
Brass bead head
Thread: 8/0 Black
Tail: Brown Goose biot.
Body: Fine copper wire.
Thorax: Peacock herl.
Legs: Hackle tips.
Wingcase: Swiss Straw.
Congradulations on the new arrival, Eric. Best wishes to all.

Look forward to doing it again, but I'm going to use a 6/0 hook. Flies will got out tomorrow. Just incase ya all didn't know,,, there's only 17 more days till Christmas

I've only got 3 done max... this wonderful child of mine is keeping me a little more busy than I had anticipated but it is certainly GOOD busyness.
