Good-Bye Al
Don't
be dismayed at
good-byes. A
farewell is necessary before you
can meet again.
And meeting again, after
moments or lifetimes,
is certain for those
who are
friends.
So long, my friend. I'll fish with you again.
Elliott W.
Today, the fish are crying.

My heart goes out to Al's family and friends, this is a difficult time indeed.
-We cannot pretend that the world begins and ends at the boundries we might make for it. Sometimes we must acknowledge that it extends itself into our lives in ways we might prefer it wouldn't, and we must face up to the challenges it offers.
-
Al,
Rest in peace, my friend. I am saddened by the finality of your life on this earth, am grateful your suffering has come to an end, and I celebrate the memories of your person and the legacy which you have left to us all.

I'm at a loss this morning. How come a person I never met makes me take pause? Maybe it's because the written word is personal in a way that other communication forms can't compare.Go in peace. You made friends and touched people that you never even knew.Robb Howard

Unfortunately our paths never crossed but nonetheless, I feel the loss of a friend. He shared with us all his knowledge, art and time. It's sad he was not given more of the latter.
Al, you can rest in peace. You have given.

Fair winds and following seas, Al.
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

What can I say that hasn't already been said. Now, there is void in our community that won't easily be filled.

Fishing Holes In Heaven
(Poem by Melinda Tanner)
When I Got To Heaven
I Wanted You To Know
I Found A Fishing Hole My First Day Here
And It Has Set Me All Aglow
All The Things I Had On Earth
I Have Here In Heaven Too
Even That Worn Out Body I Had
I Now Have One Brand New
I Can't Help Myself But To Think Of You
Wishing You Were Here
But Please Don't Worry About Me
I Don't Want You To Shed A Tear
When The Time Comes That You Join Me
This Day I Do Await
I'll Have My Fishing Pole In Hand
And Be Waiting By Heavens Gates
All my best to Al's family & friends.

"TOGETHERNESS"
"Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other; that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way in which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Pray, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well."
Farewell Al...

Indeed. I'll remember to point a finger your way with my first fish of the day, any day. every day. JGW

I am thankful for all of Al's help and guidance, whether it was through this Web site or his emails answering specific questions I had. A very generous person.
There are so many who will miss him. He was definitely one of the "good guys".

My heart is heavy with the news of Al's passing. His time here on earth is done and now he is with the Lord. He left us with more than he has taken. Al, thank you for the giving.
Lord, please bless Al's family and comfort them.
-
I didn't know Al; nevertheless -
May the wind be off your beam,
May the rein always be at your back,
And may you be in heaven 5 minutes 'afore the devil knows you're gone!
