Fly Fishing near Kansas City, MO?
I'm gonna be stuck in Kansas City, MO all day this Saturday with nothing to do so I was hoping to take the 5 wt and my gear and maybe rent a car.
Anywhere CLOSE to Kansas City to go fly fish? I'd prefer a stream/river.
I'd also like to not have to drive more than 1.5 hours if need be.
Any ideas? TIA.

Dear Fisherpup,
Dude, the high temperature forecast for Saturday is 32 with very high winds. If I were you I'd forget the fishing and gorge on BBQ.
Best Wishes,
Avalon :D
Too cold to fish - you might as well eat
Ask 10 people from Kansas City for our favorite BBQ places, and we'll give you 12 different answers. But we'll all agree that you won't be fishing tomorrow.
Hit Arthur Bryant's for lunch. Then drive south to KK Flyfisher and check out the goodies. Maybe meet with some of the locals from the board. Then eat some more BBQ of a different style.
But don't stay in the hotel with the TV.
Tom
Little known KC fact: We have one of THE best chocolate makers in the country (http://www.elbowchocolates.com/). The shop is also near your hotel. They're expensive. But if you fall for one of those lovely rods at KK Flyfisher, a box of Elbow chocolates might smooth your arrival at home.
