We had a couple of weeks where the highs never reached the 60s, even some overnight lows below freezing!!!
Glad it's over now.
Finally back in the 80s today in Tucson.

We usually get just enough winter to make the peaches and apple tree produce and to remind me how much I dislike cold weather. A former client had me visit their MN properties in January, which was very educational for a southern boy. I used to say if someone came along with a really great job I would move as far north as Cincy (I could live in KY and commute), now I would move as far north as Nashville if some really good same along. No matter how hot and sticky it may get in the summer I try to never complain about that. Besides Atlanta doesn't really get that hot very often and is not humid if you grew up around Memphis or New Orleans.
I love the winters in Minnesota, I love the springs in Minnesota, I love the summers in Minnesota I love the autumns in Minnesota!
I sometimes like the weather in Arizona, while stationed at Fort Huachuca. In the spring the cactus would start blooming in the the wide open spaces, I would travel into Tucson on weekend when Major League Baseball Teams would be doing Spring Practice. I like the autumn time for the changing color of the leaves! Winter I did not love, the temperature dropped below freezing over-night and the pipes in our building on base would freeze-up. In the summer time the temperature would exceed 120 degrees F. with no air conditioning in our WWII barracks.

I'm sick of winter too. We've had a couple days here in Mississippi where the highs have reachedin the 60s but the water is still too cold for warm water species to be really active. Bring on Spring and Summer...

You guys need to move to Canada for a while then you would apprecitate 60 degrees.;) I just finished knocking the snow off of the roof of the house and garage for about three feet up from the eaves. It is about 18 inches deep and we are getting freezing rain. Spent about 6 hours last week, Sunday and today blowing snow. Hope to go fishing for steelhead on Wednesday as the temp is supposed to get above freezing just enough that the line doesn't freeze. Then Thursday back down below freezing. Oh well it's Canada eh!
Tig, try Jackson, MS in August and you'll appreciate your 18" of snow. :)

No doubt! MS has 1 week of spring and 1 week of fall! It's blistering hot is August! But the top water action in morning and evening is killer.Quote:

I always found mosquitos to be a challenging target even with a shotshell. If there is a boat the pistol is for the snake under the boat who will be lying there when you move it. Cottonmouths are one of two main reasons the boat lying by the pond rarely gets used.
My wife's aunt has a small pond on her farm. Several years ago I went down and slowly eased the boat up and there she lay. I ran to the house and got a single barrel shotgun and two shell (just in case). I underestimated the power of a 16 gauge, there was about 4 inches of the tail and several live babies on the ground. I fed the babies to the bass in the pond.
I've seen some of the biggest snakes EVER on small isolated ponds in MS. They can get real bad if you are fishing around cypress trees and get hung up. Watch out above for snakes on limbs...they LOVE to drop in a boat!
