Think mine is fairly self explanatory!!
The author of my signature line, Horace Kephart, wrote for Field and Stream in the late 1800s
A collection of his articles was published in 1906 in the book Camping and Woodcraft, from which my quote is taken.
Mr Kephart is better know for his 1913 book, Our Southern Highlanders, and for his efforts which resulted in the founding of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Just something I read somewhere a while back. Helps me keep things simple.
Can't wait for your explanation of your signature line - of course, then I'll have one less thing to be curious about.
If I've been informed correctly, mine roughly translates to: Honk if you speak Latin. (I don't, BTW, and still haven't heard any honking)
I was also considering
May barbarians invade your personal space!
Utinam barbari spatium proprium tuum invadant!
(I started another Latin phrase thread to stop me from hijacking my own thread)

While I don't consider myself a tree-embracer and my heart doesn't bleed, Mine is clearly an appeal to preserve what we love.
The 'Wild Onzies' comes from a nickname given by OH Tuber and references the fact that I'm really not wild because, lets face it, how wild can a family man be??

I think mine is fairly self explanatory, except, sence having 2 heart attacks and having to be shocked 4 times to get me back the second time......I have changed my daily attitude......every day above ground IS a good day, and I might as well fish!~ :D
My signature line comes from the title of chapter one in Dave Hughes book, Handbook of Hatches.
I, guess......... I use the tag line, I do...... because when I read it, it made perfect sense and it's one of the real "truisms" in fishing!?!
Ed Zern had a different take, on the same subject though, which I also love and should have used perhaps:
"All fishermen are BORN, "honest", but they soon get over it!" (slight, paraphrase, not exact, without looking it up!)
I use this one beacase it describes every single day of my life since I was 5.
And on top we were born on the same day of the year - we share birthdays! 8)
alis aquilae "on eagles wings" taken from the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 40. "But those who wait for the Lord shall find their strength renewed, they shall mount up on wings like eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not grow faint."
Merry Christmas to all! :D

Well ain't this a find how de do. I can't see the signatures anymore. I checked and I have the correct setting in my Profile. It says I cans see the siggys but in reality I cannot. I checked to see what my siggy was in my profile and it was gone. So I put it back and saved it , but still nojoy. Can anyone else see the siggys?
I put mine back in, and it is showing up for me now.
Actually made it up trying to explain to a coworker why I got along with a difficult Boss.
As a phrase it took on a whole different meaning when you apply it to daily life.
Think it over awhile...anobody or anything can be your boss...wife, fish, friend, family etc. In otherwords put yourself in their shoes to see where they're coming from and you'll get along terrific.
mine....well think about it

Mine sums it up!
I just changed mine. I like it...
Mine is just a wish for all of you. John
I had to re enter mine...may not be the same "word for word", but it shows my feelings for this site.

My "believing" in Fly Fishing and Tying has never let me down, It has been a way to handle the stress and BS of life, being a solider (23+yrs), Father (24yrs), 911 operator(7 yrs), Emergency Medical Responder (4yrs) and Life (45yrs +), I have saved well over 20 lives, my own sons twice, I have lost more then I want to think, I truly believe that if I stop "believing" then I stop.
just something i say to "incourage" the fish to bite!! have to always talk nice to the fish!!!
here fishy fishy!!!
I've looked at a lot of quotes this year and last night I found the ONE.
Doug
Mine just says my name and a link to my blog. lol nothing fancy.
Many I have have read here would apply to me .Others often make me smile or think deeply. And that is good. Thanks
As far as mine Name and current club affiliation. I'll find a good quote and Add it also.
I guess the problem was temporary as the siggys came back on their own. Mine changes once in a while as is my whim. The current one is self explanitory and true.
Mine stems from all the time I spend here in Kansas explaining to my friends and customers that there is plenty of really good flyfishing right here at home, there just aren't very many trout. I'm actively trying to catch as many different North American fish on a fly (game fish and otherwise) as I can. I've never been the type to fixate on a single species for any length of time at all (except maybe the bluegill thing...and the fall white bass and wiper thing...and the spring crappie thing... and of course....)
I don't have one on this board but here is one I use on another board that came from FAOL.
"I hope he goes fishing every day." So do I, Patty. And I hope to be the one who drives him to the creek. ~ Elliott Warshaw
Some will recognize it. Sort of my way to pay tribute to a good man.
25 years ago an old neighbor taught me a lot about baseball the day i asked how he could tell on TV that the pitch was a strike . "Been watching it a while," he answered.
and he was right!
now if only i could find a time potion to help my fly fishing...
Sometimes I have to ask myself if this fishing addiction is really as important as I/we sometimes make it. Then, after being unable to pursue the addiction for awhile, the answer comes, and it's always................YES. But then life is only life, right?
Dang! My quote is gone and I don't know how to get it back. He'p y'awl!
Lew:
Simply go to your "User's Control Panel" .......click on "Edit Signature", then re-enter your quote!
Mine is just what I say everytime that I go fishing... But Satchmo says it better.
Martin
Let's test this and see if my signature is back.
Thanks OLDMAN is me thanking my uncle for introducing me to the sport. OLDMAN was his screen name on FAOL. GO IRISH is all about Notre Dame. Big fan.
Sean
How do you get your signiture in color ???
Dick;
While entering your signature, in the "Edit Signature" field, in the User's Control Panel, you will see at the top of that window, (where you type) a capital "A" with a very small arrow to the right of it.
That arrow, when clicked on, brings down a color palette to choose your signature color from.
Now, BEFORE you start typing in your signature, pick a color you want, from this drop down menu, then simply type!
IF, you already HAVE your signature, typed out, simply "highlight it" with your mouse, open the color palette window and pick a color, then click off to the side, somewhere, away from your signature, (to un-highlight the signature and close the color palette window), and your chosen color will appear!
Hope, this helps! ??
We have to re- enter our lines? I'v had mine for so many years... Hmmm, Time to change it?
iunno, hmmm what to do?what to do?
